The Incredible Hulk Smoothie

My boys have been downing kale, spinach, beet greens, and romaine lettuce with abandon.

How do I do it?  This is Mary Poppins theory at it’s best.

A spoonful of sugar {well in this case fruit} helps the collard greens go down.

Here’s Moose downing a cup of kale.

Here at the estate, the boys feed our wonderpup Doodle their salads.

After reading a ton up on raw food and healing, it became my mission to get a cup of greens in my boys and me a day! If only the King would partake as well.  Sigh.

Don’t force your kids to choke down their brussel sprouts and spinach.  Get creative.

Don’t eat your greens, drink them instead!

With a little coconut milk, a few bananas, and whatever fruit I have on hand I’ve created an easy breakfast or lunch for all of us. I’ve even snuck in some hemp protein powder for good measure.

The Hulk Smoothie:
1 cup So Delicious Coconut milk
2 bananas
1 avocado
2 handfuls of kale
8 frozen strawberries
2 T of hemp protein powder

1.) Blend on liquify until the kale disappears.
Serves two hungry boys and one tired mama.

Easy, right?  You can’t even taste the kale! If you require even more sweetness, get thee to a Whole Paycheck or a Health Food Store and buy yourself stevia drops.  Two drops would be plenty to sweeten this puppy up like a soda.

If that’s what it takes to get the greens in, be my guest.  I had to “stevia” it for the Moose the first few times.  Now, he sucks the Hulk Smoothie down.

5 Reasons Green Smoothies Should be apart of your diet

1.) Greens alkalize the acids in our diets and our body.  Eating from places like McD’s is like sucking the acid from a battery.  Would you like fries with that?

2.) The more greens you eat, the less garbage you crave.  When your body becomes more “alkaline”, you won’t crave all of the sugar and carbs.

3.) When greens are blended, much of the digestive work is done.  Smoothies are easier for your body to convert into energy.

4.) Did you know that greens are loaded with Omega 3s and 6s? The same goodies that are in our mercury-tainted fish?

5.) Greens will give you more energy than a double shot of espresso without the crash.
* Greens act as “housekeepers” of the gut, scraping out all the bad guys in your system.  Try it for a week.  We’ve been at it for more than two over here.  Either a green smoothie or a green dip like my now famous kale-a-mole.

Have you had your break kale today?

Just found your blog and it’s Awesome! I have heard things here and there about gluten free but it’s so overwhelming. Where do you recommend one to start? I would love to give this a try as I have baby weight from 3 pregnancies ( yes pathetic I know ) to lose and am so overweight and unhealthy with almost no energy to get me through the day with 3 little ones.
