For a long time, two years to be exact, I had some Goldilocks drama with barstools in my kitchen-dining-mini-office room. The heights were all wrong. After searching every retail and thrift store in the better part of the Chicagoland area, I gave up.
Then one day, as I turned into my alley, behold. Problem solved. Someone had placed these ugly ducklings for Friday pick-up. The upholstery was a hot mess, but the bones, oh, the bones were lovely.
Wrought iron, just as I wanted. The height was dead on, for our slightly too tall counters.
Given how much brown I have going on in kitchen/dining combo room {which is converting soon anyway}, I knew the bronze color had to go. We have cherry cabinets, a chocolate feature wall, and cherry chairs.
By chance, Monkey and I happened upon this at our weekly trip to Michael’s.
Yea. 59 cents. Clearance bins love me.
Here’s the color:
The universe really had me going that day, I happened upon a buttersoft black faux fur remnant for $3.00 at Joann’s. Perfect. My vision was coming alive.
With a little spray paint {mama is pretending these are non-VOC, indulge me here}
and a wee bit of fabric…
transformed.
Now, my homeless home office has more of a diva feeling.
It’s really funny to watch the two-year old pet the chair. Hopefully not with ketchup covered hands.
Plush fabric plus pewter wrought iron, gives a little more glam to my multipurpose room.
Under $5 for two chairs.
Not bad, not bad at all.
So, now I can take the $200+ I would have spent otherwise, and buy shoes.
Yea, me.

Nice! Great find in the alley! Kinda makes me wish we had alleys here in the burbs to find treasures
Perfect Frenchy stools now! People throw out the nicest things!
Why, thank you Andrea! I couldn’t agree more…{ I also found a wooden play kitchen curbside….} What is wrong with people? They could totally make some coin!
