there comes a time, in every autism mama’s life, were the pity party stops.

and the real work begins.

i’m am happy to announce, that the heavens have parted and my headache of an insurance company {who is doing its damnest not to cover anything medical for the Moose} is going to cover…drumroll, please…

unlimited ABA therapy.

yes, you heard that right.  let me say it again.

UNLIMITED.

unlimited, as in, let’s build a third bedroom, and have the ABA team move in here.

sure, part of me shudders because having people in and out of your home all day working with your kid, is like the EI days.

but i raise the white flag.

there’s only so much i can do for moose.

and the cooking from scratch
the doctor’s appointments
the drives to preK and therapy
the fights with the insurance
ordering the supplements
pouring the supplements into various hidden conncotions
and most important…

loving and cuddling

those are my elements.

and despite my fancy MEd degree
and the fact I ran a tutoring company for years after
i left teaching in which i specialized in remediation of kids with learning challenges…

i have a hard time getting my son to work with me.


i totally get now why those parents hired me…


because i am the mom now,
with the dragon tattoo,
slaying insurance companies
and developmental pediatricians
with a knowing smirk.

it’s a take no prisoners
kind of attitude…

starting Monday.
