Happy Halloween

I haven’t dressed up for Halloween since before I had my kids {which is hard to believe given my unadulterated love of this holiday, all things gothic and dark, Tim Burton films, etc}…

This weekend, I had a bacheleorette party that was Halloween-themed.

So naturally…

I was Snooki,
but everyone thought I was Amy Winehouse.

Regardless, it was fun to stuff my bra, paint myself orange, and wear tons of makeup and a wig.  Although I didn’t make it past midnight, because I have kids and am old and stuff.  The hubs also worked 15 hours that day, and I couldn’t put the morning shift on him.

It sucks to be going home when your friends are about to hit the bars, but that’s how I roll at 32.

This year we painted pumpkins, because carving with one kid who mouths everything, and another who I can’t trust in the vicinity of sharp objects didn’t seem smart.  So out came the paints,  and we splurged on those oh-so-hip Cookie Monster and Buzz Lightyear inserts.

Moose went as Buzz for his preschool party {which was totally candy-free, be still my heart: THANK YOU, Ms. Cure!}

Moose and Monkey dressed as Superman and Batman for my friend Angela’s Halloween bash, and some very light trick-or-treating…

By light trick or treating, I mean Moose had a nuclear meltdown by house #4:

So, The King took Moose home, and Monkey told me “more candy, go Nolan’s house.”  So off we went.  Exploring the neighborhood:

Corralling one kid is a cakewalk.

But every year gets easier.  Here’s a Halloween flashback from 2010…

I’m sad that Halloween is over.  We had some family in town, and my time was diverted from all things crafty and bloggy for a week.

I had some many ideas planned that I didn’t get to: the Halloween sensory bins, decorating the outdoors, a few crafts, but hey, just like my beloved Cubs: there’s always next year!

Happy Halloween…

How was your holiday?
Do tell.

  1. Your boys are adorable Nicolette. And I love that picture of you!

  2. Painting pumpkins is fun! Last year, my kiddo’s drew all over theirs and put stickers on them. They thought it was the greatest thing. And let’s face it, until our kids get older, we’ll always be the ones stuck doing all the hard work carving the pumpkin ;)
