That’s nuts! Peanuts and soy are kissing cousins…

He would not eat his sovereign steak,

He scorned his soup and kingly cake,
And told his courtly cook to bake
An extra-sticky peanut-butter sandwich.

-Shel Silverstein

Farewell, to yet another childhood treat, the beloved PB&J.  Last week, Dr. Livwell suggested that we bid sweet adieu to Moosepie’s beloved peanut butter.

Why, you may ask?

Well, apparently Momnivore failed to recall that peanuts are NOT nuts.  They are legumes, related to the evil critter soy that has been wreaking havoc on Moosepie’s digestive system.   That’s right, peanuts and soy are in the legume family, as are garbanzo beans.

Moose’s IGg may have been high on soy because he consumes his weight in peanut butter each week.

Think of what peanut butter does to your mouth.  Now, imagine that same texture running down your digestive system.  Dr. Livwell says that it flattens the villi in the small intestines, and could be contributing to the “peanut butter booty” aka diarrhea ala Moose.

So, peanut butter you are dead to me.

With open arms, we welcome almond and sunflower seed butter into our pantry.
